I would never forget my April 2012 visit in Dumaguete City wherein my friend, Diliesa, offered me to have a lunch at Kamalig, a Filipino restaurant in Dumaguete City and allowed me to try their Sauteed String Beans.

I will just share to you where and what we did when I went to Dumaguete City. For now, let me share to you some of the facts and health benefits of String Beans. Just bear with my photo above. The oil used to saute the string beans is still very evident on this image.

String Beans are also known as Squeaky Beans or Snap Beans. It’s scientific name is Phaseolus vulgaris. They are nutritionally low in fats and a very good source of protein, carbohydrates and fibers. They are also good source of folic acid, phosphorus, magnesium, potassium and molybdenum.

One of the most noted vegetable health benefits of string beans is its ability to help lower cholesterol. This is basically due to its high fiber.
