Yoghurt Party on My Birthday

Even I myself can’t really explain why I love yoghurts much. Be that yoghurt is of any kind, any flavors, any brands or packages, I still love to munch one. And if you’ll give me a dozen or two, or even a truck loaded with yoghurts, I would never feel unweighted and not tempted to take all those for myself.

Moreover, in this birthday of mine, I would love to have a Yoghurt Party for myself.

Yes! You heard it! I want yoghurt party! However, in as much as I wanted it to be realized, it still can’t be. First thing’s first is the fact that I don’t have much materials and equipments here in my place which are needed in making a yoghurt. Of course, I don’t want to have a yoghurt party wherein all yoghurts served are instant and just from the grocery. Second is that I don’t have enough time to prepare yoghurt. I know it takes quite time to prepare ingredients, hence, I better have my birthday yoghurt party a wishlist still, for now.

Anyway, M beeped me last night and asked what gift I would love to receive. With no hesitations, I told him I want to have Army coins. He asked me what and how do Army coins looked like. I just laughed then cause even I myself haven’t seen Army coins yet and that perhaps my only reason why I wanted Army coins from M on my birthday. Hmp! Wondering now what he’ll give me on my birthday. Do you have any wild guesses to what M’s birthday pressie for me? Smiley

Healthy Green Bean Casserole

My birthday falls always every Thanksgiving celebration in the US. Thanksgiving is not being celebrated as a regular holiday here in the Philippines, though, but I myself is celebrating and treasuring the moment with my family, friends and colleagues. And as part of every thanksgiving celebrating, foods to share to people are being prepared. This year, a Healthy Green Bean Casserole should be served in our tables.

I’ve read a lot of reviews about this food preparation and found out that this is just so easy to prepare but my problem is, I don’t have the kitchen here in my place where I can do all what I wanted to just to have myself a Healthy Green Bean Casserole on my birthday and thanksgiving day as well.

But wait, though I can’t prepare one for myself this time, I will still share to you how this Healthy Green Bean Casserole being prepared so if you’d like to have this in your tables too, you may opt to try this recipe below.

What you need to have?

  • 1 lb. frozen, cut green beans, thawed
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 cup nonfat sour cream
  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 4 ounces (about 2 cups) sliced Shitake mushrooms
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

What you need to do?

  • Melt 1 tablespoon butter in a large skillet. Peel and slice onion in half across its thickest part. Set the onion flat and slice, creating C-shaped slivers. Cook the onions over medium heat about 8 minutes, until translucent and edges are just beginning to turn brown.

  • Meanwhile, combine breadcrumbs, cayenne pepper, and paprika. Set aside.

  • In a separate bowl, combine green beans, sour cream, Greek yogurt, mushrooms and Parmesan.

  • When the onions are done, stir into bowl with breadcrumbs. Combine until onions are fully coated.

  • Spread the green onion mixture into a casserole dish. Spread the breaded onion slices over the top in an even layer, including any loose breadcrumbs.

  • Bake for 25 minutes. Serve warm.

I seldom eat shrimps and other crustaceans because I always suffer hypersensitivity every time I eat any from them. But if I crave, a tablet or two of an anti-histamine are never forgotten to take before I got a bite of the really mouth-watering shrimp platter.

Moreover, I am very thankful for the hospital canteen staff for preparing this 4-piece shrimp platter. We really had a sumptuous lunch. Though I really experienced swelling of the lips and itchiness over my arms after consuming 2 shrimps because I totally forgot to take anti-histamines before our lunch and because I didn’t anticipate to have this bunch of lunch that time. But the signs didn’t worsen. After I took 2 medicines, the itchiness and swelling subsided then.

Nonetheless, the lunch we had was really gastronomic plus the momentous laughs and chats we had.

Different Food Cravings

Earlier this morning, the group band  in the class were talking about their plans to buy esp guitars from guitar center nearest to school. So when they’ve finally decided to canvas first for guitar prices, a friend and a classmate of mine who is a member of the said band approaches me to be with them so I can eat breakfast with them too. Since I have not taken my meal yet, with no hesitations, I said yes to her.

While approaching to the mall, we were conversing where to dine. A lot of food stops were mentioned. But since we were all undecided because we have different food cravings, the group ended up eating separately.

After an hour, we just met at the guitar center and the group finally accomplished their mission of the morning.
