Snickers, Milky Way Chocolate Bars RECALLED over plastic content

Chocolate lovers out there, be very aware that just recently, Snickers and Mars bars were recalled. This was due to a piece of plastic found in one of the snacks and was traced back to their Dutch factory. The piece of red plastic was actually found by a customer in Germany while having a good munch of the bar.

Diet Conscious on Valentine’s Day 2016

Valentine’s Day has always been thought of sweets, flowers and any other cheesy stuff from our loved ones. But this is also the day of the year wherein we are almost having a calorie-overload. Aside from the sugar rush in our body, this will surely make every diet-conscious freak for a day.

One very good idea to do on this Valentine’s day is to have a bouquet of fresh veggies instead of chocolates and teddies on it. You can also add a bowl of sauce to spice up the bouquet of veggies.

This idea is for sure anew to you but this is something that would make your diet-conscious loved one drool and even crave for more on this Valentine’s day.

I know there are available low-calorie chocolates and other sweet stuff anywhere you can drop by, but this idea of having the fresh veggies is something really different and unique. Plus, this one’s healthy though

But, you really wanted to stick to the usual Valentine’s day presents such as those mentioned above, you can instead bake your own cake and other sweet goodies, and try to experiment at your kitchen, just like what I did and will be posted post-Valentine’s day, using healthy ingredients. Such of these kitchen stuff is the low fat milk. Yes, you can substitute that one to any milk supposedly needed in your ingredient lists.

In fact, you can have a lot of healthy treats from Tropicana Slim where you can experiment, create and have a low calorie healthy meals not just on Valentine’s day but on any days of the year. I have tried myself the low fat milk and still the result of my baked yummy treats are still great. I tasted no difference on them. But sure enough, those are healthier as those contain lesser fat.

Heart-shaped Moringa Leaf catches my attention

Having the Moringa leaves in our chicken or fish soup is not new to me. But seeing a heart-shaped moringa leaf from a bunch of stems that I was stuffing, it really caught my attention.

Moringa Leaf

From the image above, the heart-shaped leaf is just so perfectly heart-shaped for me. This, for me, is just a reminder that this Moringa not just provides a lot of benefits for me as I am still breastfeeding but for my heart as well. And maybe this reminds me that it is February already. Smiley

But whatever it would be, this heart-shaped moringa, or even those with regular leaf shape, has a lot of good stuff to provide to us. It is used as a supplement in treating the so-called “tired blood” or anemia. It is also used to treat arthritis and other joint pain, asthma, cancer, constipation, diabetes and a lot more illnesses and even parasitic infections. As mentioned above, this Moringa  also helps me produce or increase my breast milk production.

Moreover, locally, this Moringa is known as Malunggay, Kamunggay, Kalamunggay. Even the seeds and the flowers of this Moringa plant can be added in any soups and can be consumed. A Food Guide for Pregnant Women

I could still remember when I knew I was pregnant, I was a Vegan that time, I have had hard time getting enough weight for me and for my baby. And since I was already in my 4th week of pregnancy, that was 14 weeks to be exact when I discovered it, my Ob-Gyne advised me to put much attention first on the growth of my baby and me as well. Although on the very first ultrasound done, the baby was taller than expected and he just weighed enough. But I, myself was not that weighty then. She gave me more months to monitor if I gain weight or not. And since I gained very little then after my second trimester of pregnancy, I need to change my diet. She even handed me a food guide for pregnant women.

To mention some of the stuff in the food guide for pregnant women, it included a list of fruits and vegetables that are needed in every meal and the exact amount or number of pieces. The leafy vegetables are usually paired also with protein sources like any meat. And of course, not to forget the fibrous and watery fruits  as well.

At first, it was difficult for me to add meat in my meal since I was used to Vegan lifestyle. I substituted meat with any protein sources but my attending physician noticed no good to me and it was a bit costly. So to me not to spend much on protein sources, I tried meat little by little every day so I could sustain the needs of my baby and my body as well.

That experience for me was a good one until now that I am still breastfeeding my little one since the food guide for me helped me adjust to eating not just the plain Vegan lifestyle but to any food now to provide exact energy needs to my body every time I breastfeed my little man.
